Enhancing Maritime Security in Madagascar: Installation of a VMAS® System at Cap Miné Semaphore

As part of a project aimed at improving maritime safety and traffic management in the Diego-Suarez region of Madagascar, SeaOwl teams have recently completed the installation and commissioning of a VMAS® (Vessel Monitoring and Alert System) at the Cap Miné semaphore. This strategic initiative, carried out in collaboration with our partner Themys and funded by DCSD as part of cooperation projects between France and partner countries, marks a significant advancement in maritime surveillance of the area.

The deployed system includes equipment such as radars, AIS, and VHF, installed by Themys. To ensure continuous and sustainable operability, the entire infrastructure benefits from autonomous power supply through the installation of solar panels, demonstrating our commitment to more responsible solutions.

This new device will allow the Malagasy Navy to effectively supervise and monitor the entrance to Diego-Suarez Bay. By enhancing detection and rapid intervention capabilities, this infrastructure will significantly contribute to the protection and security of maritime activities in the region.

This project testifies to our ongoing commitment to promoting safety in a more sustainable manner in sensitive maritime regions.
